When I started Abstract RD+B in 2004, I saw the same pattern over and over: architects would hand off beautiful drawings to builders who had no idea how to build them. Clients got caught in the middle, dealing with change orders, finger-pointing, and budget overruns.

That's why we brought design and construction under one roof. Our in-house architect and general contractor work together from concept to completion. When your designer is sitting next to your builder, you get architecture that actually makes sense to build—on time, on budget, with no coordination gaps between separate firms.

We specialize in full custom home design—from initial site evaluation through architectural drawings, permits, construction, and final walkthrough. Our in-house team handles everything: site planning, architectural design, structural engineering coordination, permitting, construction management, and quality control.

Most clients start with a free consultation to discuss their vision, budget, timeline, and property. From there, we develop initial concepts, refine the design through collaboration, and transition directly into construction—no handoff to a separate builder, no coordination gaps.

Our Design-Build
Process

Discovery Call → Design (2-4 months) → Construction (8-14 months) → Keys in Hand.

We start with a free consultation—virtual or in-person—to discuss your vision, budget, timeline, and property. From there, design typically takes 2-4 months (depending on complexity and permit timelines), and construction runs 8-14 months. Total project timeline: 11-18 months from first meeting to move-in.

Throughout the process, you work with the same team—your architect and builder collaborate on every decision. Design changes happen before construction starts (when they're still cheap to implement). Once we break ground, we follow the plan with weekly updates and scheduled walkthroughs.

Abstract Residential Design + Build is a licensed Design-Build firm serving Idaho's Treasure Valley (Nampa, Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Caldwell) and Valley County (McCall, Donnelly, Garden Valley). We've been designing and building custom homes since 2004, with in-house architecture and construction under one roof.
